Sunset Dhow Safari offers our clients a fully catered boat trip to discover and explore the Bazaruto Archipelago.

Our excursion starts daily in the morning around 8.00-8.30 from Vilankulo’s beach. You will enjoy a relaxing and unforgettable day until we take you back to the beach of the mainland in the afternoon.
Following service that is included in our trip:
  • delicious Full lunch prepared on the Island (fish, calamari, prawn, rice or pasta, vegs, bread) that can be adapted to vegetarian or celiac
  • water and soft drinks for all the day
  • transport petrol and National Park fee related to the tour
  • snorkeling equipment if needed (we can accommodate all size that you need)
  • free pick up at your hotel
  • skipper and guide (speaking English)
  • Lunch will be cooked and served directly on the beach.
In case of bad weather we will move the trip the day after based on your request.

Sunset Dhow Safari is a locally owned company that gives job to Mozambicans from the area, the sunset Team are experienced and professional sailors under management of Captain Jeff. Our project started in 2012, since that lot of customers were on board of our trips enjoying Bazaruto Archipelago.
 
We are proud of our service and we are focused to improve ourself each day providing to our customer best service we can. Sunset Dhow Safari is a company operating the full year in Vilanculos
 
Edmundo, Mario, Nelson, Rafael, Julio and all our Team supported by Serena (booking service) will take care of everything you will need making sure you will have a safe and fantastic day discovering on the Bazaruto Archipelago islands. The crew speak English, Portuguese and Spanish.
 
We take responsibility in the local community and make sure that the locals benefits from our business.
Our fleet is composed by:
 
  • Traditional Mozambique Dhow made by Mozambican wood called “Chafunta”. The Dhow has comfortable space for 20 people.
  • Skin Dive motor boat that can accommodate up to 6 people.
  • Suli motor boat that can accommodate up to 15 people
  • Sunset Reef motor boat that can accommodate up to 12 people
All our boats are fully compliant with International Marine Regulations and are maintained like new, life jackets and first aid box are available, our personnel is fully trained, they have years of experience sailing in the Bazaruto area.

We operate in the Bazaruto Archipelago which has been national marine park since 1971. The waters between the archipelago and the mainland include the most important population of dugongs in the Western Indian Ocean. Dolphins, whales and turtles are also inhabitants of the archipelago. It is of great importance to Sunset Dhow Safari that both ourselves and our clients respect the wildlife and the marine conservation area and we always make our best efforts to disturb as little as possible.

THE ARCHIPELAGO

The Bazaruto Archipelago is considered to be the last tropical paradise in Africa. The protected status and relative isolation from mainland is the reason why nature bursts in full force with a variety of colourful birds (160 different species), amazing marine live (600 different species of fish and different type of corals). This together with the clear crystal blue water, white beaches and dunes will give you a unique and amazing experience.

THE NATIONAL PARK

Bazaruto Archipelago National Park was found in 1971 and actually is the largest marine reserve in the Indian Ocean.
This amazing pristine and unspoiled reserve is composed by five main islands: Bazaruto, Benguerra, Magaruque, St.Carolina and Banguè.
According to the World Wildlife Foundation the archipelago has a population of about 3,500 people living in seven communities.
